Bio (Updated May 2020)

Jakob Hultberg is born in Sweden and studied conducting in Gothenburg and Copenhagen. Since finishing his studies with a diploma in 2010 he has been active in all fields of conducting: opera, symphonic, ballet, and choral music, working with ensembles and opera houses such as the Royal Opera Copenhagen, La Monnaie in Brussels, Gothenburg Opera,  Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Folkoperan and Royal Philharmonic, Stockholm among others. For the last two seasons he has held the position as House Conductor at Malmö Opera Sweden conducting many productions including, La Traviata, West Side Story, and Orpheus in the Underworld as well as numerous concerts. As a ballet conductor he is a regular guest at the Royal Ballet Copenhagen, where he has been conducting their Swan Lake and Nutcracker productions. In Stockholm he made his first appearance at the Royal Ballet in 2018 conducting Nutcracker. Jakob is also regularly visiting several of the Scandinavian orchestras and ensembles in concert productions.

The coming season (20/21) includes a world premiere at the Copenhagen Opera festival and a production of Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus in a collaboration with Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and City Theatre (postponed to 2022). Jakob will also make his debut at the Danish National Opera/Jyske Opera conducting Aida.
